The largest floating offshore wind farm(6.3GW) is now under construction offshore Ulsan city. Traditional ocean energy sources such as wave, tidal current, ocean current, OTEC etc. are abundant around Korean peninsular. KMOU COGAR will take a leadership in these research eco-system to build-up university core capacity and to expand global networks power.
Major research areas are listed as below.
- Various production technology of marine renewable energy leaded by offshore wind
- Offshore production and storage technology of green hydrogen and green ammonia by high efficiency electrolysis application
- Aerodynamic design of ultra-size turbine system(>15MW)
- Optimum design of offshore wind floater platform and mooring satisfying economy and safety
- Development of offshore wind farm O&M technology based on digital twin technology
- Green shipping-offshore StS bunkering technology for decarbonized green ammonia fuel ship
- Green ammonia supply for the onshore power plant mixed or full combustion
- Hybrid power production technology combined with wave and tidal energy
- Capacity building for the design, O&M experts with foreign institutes
- Permission and licensing works for the wind farm construction
- Global joint development for EEZ floating offshore wind/green e-fuel
